The Magus Group (Pty) Ltd was established in 2000. It is a private company based in Cape Town, South Africa. The directors are CA Brosens and PM Duval. The group focuses on specialized finance, venture capital and property transactions.


In 2003 The Magus Group acquired the International Bank of Southern Africa Limited (now known as Boundary Financing Limited) from BNP Paribas and Dresdner Bank, two of the largest banking groups in Europe.


Magus Specialised Funds (Pty) Ltd is a niche investor working in conjunction with the specialized finance teams of the major merchant banks in South Africa. Launched initially as a joint venture with Allan Gray Limited, the company is now independent and is wholly owned by The Magus Group (Pty) Ltd.


Venture capital activities are conducted through Magus Ventures (Pty) Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary company of The Magus Group (Pty) Ltd. Initiatives and investments to date include:

Tourism:

• Magustravelnet, now known as Booksure TRavel, a commission free Internet reservations website for independent accommodation establishments.
• Booksure, a secure payment solution for independent accommodation establishments.
• Portfolio Online, a third party reservations website for members of The Portfolio Collection – this venture has been sold.

Retail:

The Magus Group has been granted the distribution rights to a retail software product known as “”Storevision””. The distribution rights are for South Africa, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands (Benelux).

Health:

Betucare International (Pty) Ltd, manufacturer and distributor of homeopathic health product.
